After almost 25 years building 50 to 60 story condo buildings in Chicago, Marty put his know-how and construction talents to work building Timber Ridge. Elizabeth brought her experience as a Senior Project Manager to the game and together, they built the most successful vacation rental resort and ice cream and gift store in southern Illinois.
Marty & Elizabeth started building Timber Ridge Outpost & Cabins in the spring of 2012. After several really insane months of building, they opened Memorial Day 2012 with 2 Amish built Log Cabins. In July, the 1st Treehouse, Maple Oak opened and Labor Day weekend that same year the White Oak Treehouse opened. Over the next 9 years, they added two antique log cabins, circa 1852 and 4 homes on acreage. As the largest vacation rental resort on the eastern side of the Shawnee National Forest, Timber Ridge proudly boasts hundreds of 5-star reviews ranging across multiple platforms.

Office Staff
Lacy has been with Timber Ridge for over 6 years. She now works from home, raising her seriously cute son while managing the reservation system, emails, customer reviews, phones and countless other tasks.
Occasionally Lacy can be found helping out the housekeeping staff or at The Outpost.
Autumn wears many hats around here. She started out cleaning cabins but now handles our social media as well as other things. Keep reading to hear more about everything she does around here.
Housekeeping Staff
Autumn joined the housekeeping staff over 6 years ago and now manages the housekeeping staff and maintains our scheduling calendar. In addition to that, Autumn also manages the social media pages for both Timber Ridge and The Outpost, creating interesting and engaging posts. She is the mother of two adorable little tykes that keep her hopping when she isn’t at work.
Tanya has been with Timber Ridge for over 3 years. Tanya brings a wit and sense of humor that keeps everyone giggling while they work. Tanya enjoys a more holistic lifestyle so she is always quick to come up with a home remedy for what ails you.
Hunter has been working here for about 2 years now. She recently surprised us by getting married to her high school sweetheart and best friend. When not at work, Hunter and her new husband spend their time remodeling their 1st home.
Phoebe joined the team last year (2020). She is a senior at Hardin County high school. Phoebe can be found working not only with the housekeeping team but also at The Outpost. Phoebe is working to save money for college and her own car.
Outpost Staff
Lily has been with us since we opened The Outpost 4 years ago. She quickly became a shift manager and has been a valuable member of the Outpost staff ever since. Lily is heading off to college this fall to study psychology at Murry State University. But don’t worry, she can still be found at The Outpost on weekends and holidays.
Amy has been with us over 3 years now. She is also a shift manager at The Outpost. Amy’s cleaning and organizational skills are legendary. Amy is heading to college this fall to attend nursing school at West Kentucky Community College. But like Lily, she isn’t really leaving as she will still be around on some weekends and holidays.
Makayla has worked at The Outpost since the day we opened 4 years ago. She has just graduated from Kaskaskia College where she attended on a full scholarship. She has now transferred to SIU Carbondale to complete her degree in special education. Makayla also works at our local school as a substitute teacher while she completes her degree.
Kesli has been with us a little over a year now. She just graduated high school and will be attending SIC college next fall while still working at The Outpost.
Briley has been working at The Outpost a little more than a year and has also just graduated Hardin County high school. She will be attending SIC next fall as well.
Natalie joined our team at The Outpost early in the 2021 season. She is a senior at Pope County high school and is saving money for college where she plans to study Pharmacology.
Mallory also recently joined the team at The Outpost. She is a senior at Hardin County high school where she also plays on the school volleyball team and competed on the archery team. Mallory can sometimes be found helping out the housekeeping staff as well.
Maintenance Staff
Cole has been here since the very beginning, 9 years ago. As the youngest son, Cole was just 12 years old when Timber Ridge was built. He has actively participated helping Marty in the building of every unit, house and property remodel that’s been done at Timber Ridge. Cole now heads up the Maintenance department overseeing 10 rental units, The Outpost and surrounding properties. When not at work, Cole attends Southeastern Illinois College’s welding program.
Swanny has joined the Timber Ridge team this season and manages all the firewood as well as some maintenance tasks. After some 30 years in public service, we are blessed to have him on our team.
Chris recently joined our maintenance staff. He is the father of 4 and brings a wide range of experience and knowledge.
