Meet the Owners
We are the Hoffmans and the Schetkys. We are the owners of the Garden of the Gods Outpost and Timber Ridge Cabins. We moved from Alaska to Southern Illinois in the fall of 2022. We came looking for more sunshine and land to raise our kids on.
Here are a few fun facts about us:
Andrew was born and raised at a summer youth camp in Soldotna, Alaska. He loves outdoor adventures including kayaking, hiking, and water skiing. He is looking forward to exploring the Shawnee National Forest more!
Jessica dreamed of owning a hospitality business someday. She also made plans with her 6th-grade best friends to build a tree house when she grew up!
Daniel started gardening in Alaska in his laundry room with aquaponics over a decade ago! He is now managing our livestock and growing several garden plots here in southern Illinois! We hope to incorporate this experience into visiting Timber Ridge!
Anna is a lover of flowers and fabric – curating a garden of outdoor beauty and indoor arts! Make sure to walk up the hill and past the pond to check out our flower garden during the summer!

Our Staff
Outpost Staff
We are so thankful for our employees! They do a great job making the outpost a place people want to visit! Most of our employees are residents here in Hardin County; many are high school and college students. Our goal here at Timber Ridge is to provide a great work environment for young people to learn and grow, not only as employees but as people.
The Roots of Timber Ridge Outpost & Cabins
Marty & Elizabeth started building Timber Ridge Outpost & Cabins in the spring of 2012. After several really insane months of building, they opened Memorial Day 2012 with 2 Amish-built Log Cabins. In July, the 1st Treehouse, Maple Oak opened and Labor Day weekend that same year the White Oak Treehouse opened. Over the next 9 years, they added two antique log cabins, circa 1852, and 2 homes on acreage.
We appreciate all their hard work and dedication in establishing this beautiful resort for you to enjoy!
